I suspect, if asked, that most of us would like to known for our values such as compassion, integrity, respect, honor, kindness, gratitude, and humility. And likewise, we would hope to be treated with the same values by those we live with, work with, and otherwise encounter on a daily basis. There is no doubt that this has been a very divisive year. Many of us have felt division in our communities, in our workplaces, and even our homes. During this holiday season and in the year to come, it is my wish that we are able to focus on all that we are grateful for, and on the collective strengths of those in the groups and families we interact with daily.
Showing compassion and respect for others has amazing healing qualities and can help to bring us back together. We are, after all, better together. Whether as communities, teams or families. And not because we are more effective or efficient, but because we are happier and healthier.
When we genuinely offer true compassion and respect with no expectations, it is soaked up like a good rain by all in its path and is never wasted.
It’s also important to remember that we must be compassionate with ourselves. The holidays make it particularly easy for some of us to over-stress our already stressed bodies and minds as we try to make things perfect for our families and loved ones (Sound familiar Moms?). So, I would also ask you to look after your own health and well being as well as those around you. Practicing care, kindness, and compassion for ourselves and each other is one of the most effective ways to lower our stress, increase our joy, and restore balance to our systems.
If you took the time to read this far, thank you so much. We appreciate your attention and we truly wish you Peace, Joy and Prosperity this holiday season and in the year ahead.
